Jesse Coolbaugh, walking along Schuylkill County road, hit by car

The striking vehicle then fled the scene.

BUTLER TWP., Pa. - Police are trying to find out who hit a 19-year-old man as he was walking along a Schuylkill County road Thursday night.

The incident happened around 7:50 p.m. as Jesse Coolbaugh of Lost Creek was walking east along Route 54 in Butler Twp., just west of the West Mahanoy Twp. line.

According to police, the striking vehicle was also traveling east and hit Coolbaugh from the rear, throwing him to the roadway.

The vehicle fled the scene, continuing east on Route 54.

Coolbaugh suffered injuries to his knees, hands, neck and face. Police said he was able to walk about a quarter mile to his home before he collapsed.

He was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

There's no word on his condition.

Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to call state police.
