READING, Pa. - A man has been found guilty of 1st degree murder for the killing of a high school student in Reading in 2011.
The jury reached its verdict for Jose Reyes-Diaz shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday, also convicting Reyes of attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
Reyes-Diaz, 25, shot and killed Ramon Rosario Evangelista outside the A-Town Cafe at North 10th and Elm streets in Nov. 2011. Two other people were wounded in the shooting.
Evangelista was a student at the I-LEAD Charter School at the time he was killed.
Sentencing for Reyes-Diaz has not yet been scheduled.
A second suspect in the case, Christino Vasquez Ayala, is awaiting trial. Police said he gave Diaz a ride home after the shooting.
