Joshua Joseph Smith accused of holding ex-girlfriend, children captive

A mother and her two young children were held hostage by the woman's ex-boyfriend, police said.

Joshua Joseph Smith, 22, of Easton, held his ex-girlfriend and her 2 children in her Bath apartment as he confronted her about their relationship, police said.

After about 20 minutes, the older of the two children snuck outside and alerted a neighbor, police said.

Smith fled the apartment before police arrived, they said.

He was caught about an hour later at a Rite Aid pharmacy in Nazareth.

Smith faces charges of burglary, false imprisonment, stalking and more.

He admitted breaking into her apartment to spy on her out of jealousy, police said.  Smith is the father of the youngest child.  He told police his ex-girlfriend would not let him see his child.

He is currently in Northampton County Prison on $30,000 bail.
