Lehigh snubbed by FCS selection committee

Lehigh capped another yet another tremendous regular season on Saturday, with a 38-21 win in their rivalry game over Lafayette.

That win put them in pretty good position, it appeared, to perhaps earn an N-C-A-A playoff berth.

But on Sunday, despite a sterling resume, the Mountain Hawks were turned away.

The NCAA announced the field for this year's FCS tournament Sunday afternoon, and Lehigh was not among the teams to receive an invitation.

Lehigh was one of only four teams in the country to win 10 games this year.

The Mountain Hawks are currently ranked number 12 in the country, and are coming off two seasons in which they not only made the playoffs, but won playoff games on the road.

And yet, all that wasn't enough to sway the selection committee.

Lehigh finishes its season at 10-1.
