ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An anonymous tip leads to a prostitution bust at an Allentown strip club. City police, state troopers and Liquor Control Enforcement officers swarmed Platinum Plus Wednesday afternoon. Nearly a dozen dancers were arrested after they allegedly offered sex acts for cash.
Undercover officers had been investigating the club since the tip came in. After several visits, the sex for sale sting went down Wednesday around 5PM.
The officers posed as clients at Platinum Plus in Allentown. Investigators say one made up a fake story about bringing clients in and arranged a meeting with some exotic dancers. According to court records, within an hour every undercover officer was offered some kind of sex act for cash.
The paperwork says the workers wanted $200 to more than $1, 000 for certain sexual services they would allegedly perform in the strip club's champagne room. The documents say a guest at Platinum Plus could pay between $295 and $695 to get a bottle of champagne and an hour in the champagne room.
Authorities say the women were paid up-front with marked benjamins. Those bills were found on them during the raid. In all, eleven workers were arrested and charged with misdemeanor soliciting prostitution.
Members of the East Allentown-Rittersville Neighborhood Association, who fought the strip club in the past, say the establishment is bringing problems to the area.
"We were told it would be a classy establishment that would produce good things," shared neighborhood association President Dennis Pearson.
He calls this a new low. Saying he hopes the club is now on the city's radar.
"It's not good for the neighborhood," added Pearson. "It's something that we're certainly not proud of."
69 News reached out to the strip club but management had no comment about the arrests.
