2 dead in Northampton Borough after apparent murder-suicide

NORTHAMPTON BOROUGH, Pa. - Officials are investigating the shooting deaths of two people in Northampton County as an apparent murder-suicide.

Emergency officials said two people were found dead at a residence in the 300 block of West 27th Street in Northampton Borough.

The shooting was reported around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The Northampton County coroner was called to the scene.

District Attorney John Morganelli told 69 News the coroner said the deaths were being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.

Crews on scene reported a tarp was covering what appeared to be a body in the front yard of the home.

Officials said there is no threat to the public.

Investigators blocked off the street and homes for hours through the night. Police cleared the scene around 2 a.m.

No word yet on what led to the shootings.
