2 juveniles in custody after threats at Parkland High School

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Two juveniles are in custody after allegedly making a threat at Parkland High School, the district attorney said Monday.

Lehigh County DA Jim Martin said Parkland officials learned last Monday of "possible threatening action" to be carried out by two students before Christmas break. The press release did not specify the nature of the threats.

South Whitehall Township police, the district attorney's office and the FBI responded to the school to investigate.

Martin said two 15-year-olds were taken into custody Wednesday and are being held in a juvenile facility.

The two are charged with committing "delinquent acts," Martin said.

Officials said there is no longer any threat against the high school from the incident.

Several parents tell 69 News they are upset by the lack of communication from school officials.

Parkland Superintendent Richard Sniscak sent an email to parents Monday addressing the concerns.

"We understand the anxiety this creates for families, students and staff, but we are limited in what can be shared publicly regarding student discipline.  During these types of circumstances, the Parkland Administration and the legal authorities remain in constant communication and our sole purpose is focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students and staff.  Please understand that our communication with you may be limited when police are leading an investigation.  If there were concerns that warranted the closing of school(s), we would communicate that to you promptly as we have in the past," Sniscak said, in part.
