Accident closes Tilghman Street Bridge in Allentown

Multiple vehicles involved, bridge closed in both directions

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An accident involving five vehicles closed the Tilghman Street Bridge over the Lehigh River in Allentown Tuesday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m.  Allentown police said they hoped to have the accident cleared and the bridge reopened before 5 p.m.

Police reported four people were injured, none of them seriously.  They also said an initial report that one person was trapped turned out to be untrue.
