Accused serial rapist facing another charge

EASTON, Pa. - An accused serial rapist from Northampton County is facing additional charges.

David Martinez, of Bethlehem, is currently behind bars, accused of raping five women police said he met through Facebook.

Now, court documents indicate he will soon be charged with another count of attempted rape, stemming from an incident in January 2013.

Martinez pleaded no contest to the initial charges as part of a plea deal, but a judge rejected the deal after Martinez proclaimed his innocence in a letter that was published in a local newspaper.

The new alleged victim saw that letter and contacted police, officials said.

Martinez is scheduled to stand trial in June.
