Alleged serial robber caught in the act

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Bethlehem police said they've caught the man who keeps robbing a convenience store in the city.

Police detectives were staked out at the Express Food Mart in the 2300 block of Linden Street Friday night when the alleged robber pulled up, according to a police release.

Officials said Herik Jaramillo, 29, drove up around 7:30 p.m., went inside, and robbed the store.

Police immediately took Jaramillo, of Bethlehem, into custody, and recovered a fake handgun and $430 cash.

Investigators said Jaramillo is responsible for several other armed robberies at the Food Mart in October and November. Police said he committed the robberies to support an opioid and pain killer addiction.

Jaramillo was charged with six counts each of robbery, theft and possession of instruments of crime.

He is being held in Northampton County prison.

Bethlehem police say they will continue anti-robbery surveillance at various businesses as a safety precaution during the holiday season.
