Allentown fire officials receive donations to aid in pet rescues

VIDEO: Former councilwoman donates...

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A donation to the Allentown Fire Department was put to good use at a fire last weekend.

Former Allentown City Councilwoman Gail Hoover raised money to get 15 pet oxygen kits and 10 soft-sided animal crates for first responders.

Allentown Fire Chief Lee Laubach showed the public the department's new equipment Friday, but some of the rigs have already been put to use.

Firefighters responded to a fire in the 1900 block of South Delaware Street last Saturday.

There were more than 60 animals in the house and many were saved using this equipment.

Laubach says this latest donation helps every Allentown EMS and fire vehicle have pet rescue capabilities.
