Allentown Halloween Parade scheduled for Oct. 16

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Halloween will be here in a few weeks and Allentown is getting in the spirit with its annual parade.

The Halloween parade  will take place on Sunday, October 16 at 2p.m. 

It will step off from the Allentown Fairgrounds, proceed to 17th Street, to Hamilton Street and will wrap up on Ninth Street.

The theme of this year's parade will be "Game On!" Participants will dress as their favorite players or characters from various sports teams, board games, or video games. 

11 youth and adult bands will be playing in the parade. Performance groups X-CAPE, Small Steps, Big Dreams and the Hispanic American League of Artists will also be in the parade lineup.

Spectators and participants are encouraged to use the Facebook and Twitter hashtag #halloweenparade for the event.

Information on alternative routes for drivers will provided on the Parks Department page on the city's website.

The rain date for the parade is Sunday October 23.
