Allentown State Hospital may soon be up for sale

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - There could finally be some movement in plans to sell the old Allentown State Hospital property.

State Representative Mike Schlossberg tells 69 News the state legislature is considering a bill that could pave the way for the sale of the property to a Bucks County developer.

That bill allows the state to have the site appraised for negotiating purposes.

The state hospital closed in 2010 and has sat vacant ever since.

The Allentown School District has expressed some interest in using the property on Hanover Avenue for a new middle school.
