Allentown water, sewer closing date pushed back one week

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Lehigh County Authority is getting an extra week to take control of Allentown's water and sewer systems.

The closing date on the deal was supposed to be Wednesday, but that's been pushed back to Aug. 7, and the official handover will be the following day.

Officials with the LCA said they'll use the extra time to finish closing the financial loose-ends of the deal and to get all the paperwork together.

Between now and the closing date, the LCA said it will sell $292 million in bonds to be used for the upfront payment to the city.
