Allentown's View Lounge files petition against nuisance abatement law

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Allentown's recently approved nuisance abatement law is being challenged in court.

The View Lounge on Hamilton Street has filed a petition after it was forced to pay $5,000 or face closure.

Back in May, new nuisance laws took effect in the city. Under them, businesses accumulate points after violations and those points eventually add up to penalties, sanctions and even closure.

The View Lounge was cited by police several times since the new law took effect.

Lawyers for the restaurant and after-hours dance club are pushing for the law to be ruled unconstitutional.
