Anthony Holmes charged in Allentown shooting

Reputed gang member allegedly shot teen in the leg last month

Police: Man arrested for shooting teen

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A 22-year-old Allentown man has been arrested for shooting a teenager in the leg last month.

Allentown police report Anthony Clarence Holmes pointed a 9mm semi-automatic handgun at the victim and shot him one time in the lower leg.

The victim told police he was shot for accidentally bumping into Holmes, whom he identified as a Bloods gang member known as ANT, at a backyard party.

The shooting occurred minutes before midnight June 14 in the 1000 block of W. Allen Street.

When police arrived they found the teen lying on the sidewalk along Allen Street. He had a belt wrapped around his lower right leg as a tourniquet and was missing a sneaker.

The victim was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township.

Police followed a trail of blood through a house and into a rear parking lot, where they found the boy's other sneaker and a 9mm shell casing.

When interviewed by police Friday, the victim said nothing immediately happened after he bumped into Holmes at the party. But later that night, he said, Holmes walked into him and pushed him backward with his shoulder.

He said Holmes then asked: "What's poppin'?"

The victim responded: "Nothing."

Another male with Holmes said: "Nothing's crackin' either."

The victim said Holmes then pulled up his shirt, pulled out the handgun and shot him one time.

On Monday, the victim identified Holmes as the person who shot him, from a police photo array.

Holmes was arrested Tuesday.

Holmes, who resided in the 100 block of N. Ellsworth Street in the city, was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a firearm without a license.

He is being held in Lehigh County Prison on $100,000 bail.
