Armed robber hits Hellertown bank

Bank of America on Main Street robbed Thursday

HELLERTOWN, Pa. - An armed robbery occurred Thursday morning in Hellertown.

It happened at  10:49 a.m. in the Bank of America at 5 Main St. in the Northampton County borough.

The robber passed a note to a bank teller that included the threat of a firearm, although no weapon was displayed.  He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Hellertown police believe he drove away in a silver or gray, late-model, GMC or Chevrolet four-door pick-up truck.

Police describe the suspect as a light-skinned male, possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern, who is 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall.

He was wearing eye glasses; a dark-colored baseball cap with a light-colored brim; a light blue, button-down dress shirt; light blue jeans, and black and white sneakers.
