Authorities bust 57-year-old alleged heroin dealer

Authorities were investigating dealing in Bangor

BANGOR, Pa. - Authorities in Northampton County allege they found cash, heroin and an IOU ledger after raiding the apartment of a 57-year-old Slate Belt woman suspected of dealing drugs.

Frances Collins faces felony charges following a raid on her Bangor apartment Tuesday by members of the Northampton County Drug Task Force. District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez arraigned Collins Tuesday night, setting bail at $35,000.

She was released from Northampton County Prison Wednesday after a bondsman posted her bail.

The drug task force had been investigating reports of heroin sales out of Collins’ apartment in the first block of Broadway. Investigators applied for a search warrant through District Judge Alicia Rose Zito, which was approved Tuesday. Authorities searched the apartment shortly before 1:30 p.m. that day.

Police said they found white wax baggies containing suspected heroin, empty baggies, rubber bands, an ink stamp with an “@,” $600 cash, a pair of suspected transaction ledgers and other drug paraphernalia, according to court records.

Bangor police charged Collins with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and a single misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.

Her next court date is a preliminary hearing tentatively scheduled for May 16.
