Avantor completes $6.5 billion acquisition of VWR

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Center Valley-based Avantor Inc. completed its acquisition of VWR Corporation.

The deal is valued at about $6.5 billion, with $33.25 in cash per share of VWR common stock.

Avantor, formerly and originally known as J.T. Baker Chemical Company, is leaving its building in Center Valley at the Stabler Corporate Center and moving to downtown Allentown next year.

The company signed a lease for new office space in City Center's Tower 6, a 12-story office building and retail space recently built at Sixth and Hamilton Streets in downtown Allentown.

CEO of Avantor Michael Stubblefield will lead the combined company.

The VWR name will remain in place as one of Avantor's selling channels, according to a press release.
