Bangor store robbed at knife-point; suspect on the loose

BANGOR, Pa. - Police in Bangor, Northampton County are on the hunt for a knife-wielding man who robbed a general store Saturday afternoon.

According to a Tweet posted by the Bangor Police Department, the robbery happened around 3:15 p.m. at the Bangor General Store at 39 Broadway.

The suspect is described as a thin white male with blue eyes, around 5 foot 7 inches in height, with a shaved head, between the ages of 18 and 24. He was wearing a dark-colored sweater, jeans and shoes.

Residents say they are surprised by the violent crime that struck their community Saturday afternoon.

"I'm sure the person who did it was a desperate person," said Debbie Henry. "No one does stuff like that in their right mind.
