Bethlehem man pleads guilty in Forks Twp. cell phone store robbery

Nadir Chandler will spend up to 5 years in prison

EASTON, Pa. - The Bethlehem man accused of stealing more than 70 cell phones from a Forks Township Verizon store in October 2016 has agreed to a guilty plea.

Nadir Chandler pleaded guilty Thursday morning to a single felony count of conspiracy to commit robbery. As part of a negotiated plea, prosecutors agreed to drop felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property.

Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli immediately sentenced the 27-year-old to 30 to 60 months in prison and imposed a $2,500 fine. Chandler, who has been in Northampton County Prison since March 2017, will receive credit for time served.

Authorities allege that Chandler had been sent to the Verizon store to collect a drug debt from the store manager. He instead came back with about 77 electronic devices, most of which were cell phones.

Authorities charged Chandler in connection to the robbery as part of a larger investigation into a series of cell phone store robberies throughout the area. Vaughn Felix and Gregory Lewis remain the prime suspects in many of the robberies and are accused in the fatal shooting Michael Davis - an employee at the Forks Township store - outside his Palmer Township home in November 2016.

Assistant District Attorney Patricia Mulqueen said Davis's father was in the courtroom Thursday for Chandler's guilty plea.

Chandler cooperated with the investigation into the Forks Township robbery, but Mulqueen said she doesn't expect him to cooperate any further or testify at any upcoming trials.

A judge has agreed to merge all seven cases against Lewis and Felix. Lewis is scheduled for trial in December, while Felix's trial is scheduled for January. Mulqueen said Thursday that she could not discuss an possible plea negotiations with either defendant.

Along with their alleged involvements in the cell phone store robberies, the pair is also accused in the December 2016 armed robbery of an Easton jewelry store.

Felix and Lewis are also facing homicide charges in Berks County in connection to the December 2016 fatal shooting of 21-year-old Dominic Colona. Authorities allege they also shot and paralyzed Colona's sister, Shan'dell Lopez, during the home invasion in Reading.

On Tuesday, authorities arrested Tiheem Holloman for allegedly arranging the sale of some of the cell phones stolen during the January 2017 robbery of a Bethlehem Township AT&T store. Investigators have alleged that Felix called Holloman about the stolen phones less than 30 minutes after the robbery.
