Bethlehem mayor-elect names city's first female fire chief

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The first female firefighter in the history of the Bethlehem Fire Department has done it again.

Mayor-elect Bob Donchez announced Monday that he has selected Jackie Lilley-McCammon to be the next chief of the department.

Lilley-McCammon will replace Chief George Barkanic, who retired this month.

Lilley-McCammon became the department's first female firefighter more than 25 years ago, and she was promoted to assistant chief earlier this year.

The appointment still has to be approved by city council.
