Bethlehem police announce changes to patrol efforts

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Bethlehem Police Department is shaking up the way it does business.

Mayor Robert Donchez and police Chief Mark DiLuzio announced the changes Thursday afternoon.

They said they will redeploy officers in an effort to get more cops on the street. They also announced the addition of beat officers for the north and south side business districts to work with the mounted unit.

The department is stressing community involvement and communication between police and residents.

Both Donchez and Diluzio said public safety is a key component to moving Bethlehem forward.
