Bethlehem police arrest two on drug charges

Friday arrests were part of investigation into heroin dealing in city

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - An ongoing investigation into heroin dealing in Bethlehem resulted in the arrest of a man and a woman Friday morning and the confiscation of cocaine and heroin worth nearly $16,000.

Members of the Bethlehem Police Emergency Response Team served a search warrant at 8 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 1100 block Fritz Drive in the city .

Inside the home were 35-year-old Andre Carrasquillo, Jr., 36-year-old Erica Rivera  and five children ranging in age from 10 to 16.

A search of the residence revealed 93 bags of heroin, 27 grams of loose heroin, four bags of cocaine, 10 grams of loose cocaine, a scale and packaging materials and $4,800 dollars.

The total value of the heroin was estimated at $14,000 and the total value of cocaine was estimated at $800.

Carrasquillo was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, criminal use of communications and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before Northampton County District Justice Robert Hawke, who bail set at $50,000. Carrasquillo was unable to make bail and was committed to Northampton County Prison.

Rivera was also arrested and charges are pending as the investigation into heroin dealing is continuing.

That search is being conducted by members of the Bethlehem Police Vice Unit and Street Crimes Unit.
