Bethlehem robbery suspect financially desperate, police say

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A woman has admitted to robbing two convenience stores in Bethlehem.

Joanna Scandlen stands accused of robbing the Quick Fill on Linden Street on Saturday and the 7-Eleven on Linden Street the next day.

Police eventually tracked Scandlen down in jail. She was arrested Sunday by Allentown police on a retail theft charge.

Scandlen told investigators she committed the holdups in Bethlehem because her financial situation was desperate, police said.
