Bethlehem woman makes sparkling discovery

Marianne Sands has an 18-karat heart of gold.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - UPDATE: The rightful owner of the ring has been found. Original story below.

Marianne Sands enjoys discovering the sights in her Bethlehem neighborhood but her latest discovery shocked her.

"I picked it up and I couldn't believe my eyes!" she exclaims.

It was quite the sight.

"So I was out walking my puppy on Sunday night…" she begins.

When on the sidewalk off Jacksonville Road...

"It just caught my eye."

She spotted it.

"I saw this thing - shiny thing - on the sidewalk."

A diamond ring that appears to be a woman's wedding set.

Marianne's first thought?

"Oh boy, somebody's missing this!" she shakes her head, looking down at it on her kitchen table.

Marianne quickly put out a Facebook post but nobody claimed it.

"And then I thought, well maybe I'll call you guys, you could help!" she says, speaking to 69 News.

She says she'll do anything to get it back to its rightful owner but she wants to make sure it's the rightful owner, so there are certain things we're keeping hidden, that only the owner will know.

"If they can identify all the key features on it, we'll get it back to its rightful owner," Marianne says simply.

We asked her why did she decided to look for the owner instead of just figuring “finders keepers?”

"Because," she says firmly, "If this was mine, I would be so heartbroken and somebody out there's got to be so heartbroken."

So while everybody waits for the rightful owner to come forward, the shiny diamond ring is in good hands with a woman who has an 18-karat heart of gold.

"I kind of think “what comes around goes around' eventually," Marianne smiles.

If the ring yours, contact 69 News and Marianne says she will take it from there.
