Bicyclist charged after collision with vehicle

Police said he failed to stop at stop sign

L. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - Police said a Lehigh County bicyclist failed to yield at a stop sign, when he was hit by a car late last month.

The crash occurred about 7:15 p.m. Sept. 26 at the intersection of Grange Road and Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township. Pennsylvania State Police report that Michael L. Williams, of Wescosville, was biking south on Grange Road, when he failed to stop at Hamilton Boulevard, according to a police report issued Friday.

Authorities said Williams rode into the path of an oncoming Toyota Rav4. The collision threw Williams onto the hood of the vehicle, damaging the hood and windshield, according to police.

The Cetronia Ambulance Corps transported Williams to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for treatment of his injuries. Police said the severity of his injuries was unknown, and a hospital representative said Friday that the hospital currently had no record of Williams as a patient.

State police said Williams was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.
