BK's Helping Hands lives up to the name

VIDEO: Giveaway block party in...

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Brittni Kholi is busy packing up the car but not for a Memorial Day weekend getaway.

She's taking a trip just down the road to Edie's Eatery, where on Saturday afternoon, she and her friend, Edie's owner John Rivera, will serve up a little kindness.

“A lot of people don't know how many people are in need in our own community," begins Brittni Kholi, who founded "BK's Helping Hands."

Brittni and John carry the same desire to help people."It's just part

of our philosophy," Rivera says. "We were blessed to be able to open up a business of our own, create something for ourselves. We need to do the right kind of business and everything we can to support the environment that we're living in," he says.

So when Brittni first had the idea last year to hold a donation block party, John was on board.

"I literally told everyone to bring everything that they didn't want or need," Kholi says.

And last year, at the first donation block party, "We easily gave away like 1,000 items," she tells us.

They set up tables in the alley next to Edie's Eatery filled with clothes, shoes, bedding. Anyone was welcome to anything they needed and all of it was free.

"It's like so heartwarming -- just seeing someone smile when they get something they need," Kholi smiles.

Saturday will be the second year for the donation party, and once again, everyone is welcome.

It’s a little neighborhood reminder that it only takes a few, to clothe so many, with kindness.

You can always donate items to BK's Helping Hands.

They do year-round care packages and hand them out to homeless and women's shelters or anyone in need.
