Brazen bandits steal $2K from elderly resident in Lower Saucon

One of the thieves posed as a utility worker

LOWER SAUCON TWP. - Authorities in Northampton County are on the hunt for a pair of brazen bandits.

Lower Saucon Township police say a bogus utility worker distracted an elderly resident while another thief stole thousands of dollars from the victim's home.

Police say a man posing as an employee of the Hellertown Water Authority showed the resident a photo ID.

The phony worker told the victim he needed to get into the basement. While the victim escorted him there, another person ran upstairs and took about $2,100 in cash.

Police are warning residents to be alert of this type of scam.
