Bus fuel spill irks residents in North Whitehall neighborhood

NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - A Lehigh County woman says a fuel spill at an industrial lot is causing a stink in her neighborhood.

Lisa Rhodes said last week, a bus overturned at an industrial lot behind her home in the Laurys Station section of North Whitehall Township.

Rhodes said the bus began leaking fluids and what appears to be diesel fuel but the spill hasn't been cleaned up.

Pictures taken by a neighbor and shared with 69 News show the stained ground around the bus.

Just a chain link fence separates the bus from Rhodes home and she says she is concerned with possible health effects the fumes may be causing.

"Everybody is running air, it's going through our ventilation. There are people on this street with respiratory problems, especially me," she said.

The Laurys Station Fire Chief tells 69 News the township and the DEP are aware of the issue and plan to look into it this week.
