Bushkill Park opening to celebrate 115th birthday

FORKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Bushkill Park in Forks Township is getting ready to celebrate its 115th birthday by re-opening for the first time in over 10 years.

The park will open on July 9 from noon until 6 p.m. with free admission and free parking.

Organizers say the day will be filled with fun activities for kids and families, entertainment and even birthday cake.

Roller skating will be available from noon to 4 p.m. and the park will host an "All About the Park" game show with prizes from Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, Hershey Park and Knoebels Amusement Park.

The park will also be offering hot dogs, burgers, pizza, snow cones and plenty of other treats.

First opened in 1902, organizers say Bushkill Park is "the last of the local old-time community amusement parks."

July's event will also feature a park presentation called "Past, Present, Future of Bushkill Park" showing the restoration of the beloved local park.

The park's skating rink, indoor play center and pavilion are already open for use.

For more information, visit the parks Facebook page or call the park at 610-258-6941.
