Business boom expected in Whitehall

Whitehall lands new restaurants

WHITEHALL, Pa. - Get ready for a business boom in Whitehall and be ready to fill your dining-out menu with new options!

Buffalo Wild Wings, Golden Corral and the Whitehall Pub are three new restaurants coming to Whitehall's main drag.

Mayor Ed Hozza made the announcement Thursday night at a presentation for the redevelopment of MacArthur Road.

Hozza said a Raymour and Flanigan furniture store will take over the former Borders, Tweeter, and Famous Footware stores in the Whitehall Mall.

A Golden Corral, with seating for 400,  is expected to open at the Lehigh Valley Mall most likely in 2012.

Buffalo Wild Wings will join "Restaurant Row" on Grape Street later this year or early next.

The former Lone Star restaurant building will become The Whitehall Pub.  Hozza estimates late 2011 or early 2012 for an opening date.

Hozza says the new businesses headed for his township are exciting.

"It shows that despite the economic climate that we have there are still investments being made in Whitehall Township and the Lehigh Valley.  Our goal here is to create jobs but our next step is to create meaningful jobs that a family can be sustained on," Hozza said.

Approximately 17,000 people live within a 5-minute walking distance of the MacArthur Road shopping district.
