CANstruction donates nearly 25 tons of food to local food bank

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. - Over 50,000 pounds of food has been donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, thanks to the third annual CANstruction charity competition.

The event took place at the Lehigh Valley Mall for two weeks, in which teams created sculptures made only from canned food donations.

This year, seven teams came together to build comic-themed structures. In all, the creations used a total of more than 41,000 cans.

The goal of the project is to raise awareness about the hunger that plagues communities near and far.
