Cedar Beach Pool to open this weekend

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Cedar Beach Pool in Allentown will be open to city residents free of charge this weekend Oct. 7-8.

The pool is set to be open from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Identification such as a driver's license, city ID or school ID is required for admission as the pool is only open to residents and employees of the City of Allentown.

“It has been a long haul to overcome the setbacks and get the project completed,” said Mayor Ed Pawlowski.  “The walls are plaster, so the pool is never emptied. The weather is going to be warm, and the pool has passed all the necessary inspections, so I want to give our residents an opportunity to enjoy it, or just come out to see it, even if it is only for this weekend.”

The pool is ADA accessible and has new zero depth and stair entries. Lifeguards will be on duty.

According to the city of Allentown, there's new drop and tube slides, and climbing walls. There's also a new intermediate area, a lap and general swimming space and a new "tot" area.

During opening weekend, a showing of "Finding Dory" will play on the city's outdoor movie screen Saturday at 7 p.m. Food will be sold by the Walking Taco food truck.
