Close call for driver on Route 33 after guardrail passes though entire backseat of car

BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. - It was a close call for a driver whose car smashed into a guardrail along Route 33 in Northampton County, resulting in the guardrail pushing through the entire backseat of the car.

Police said a car driven by 36-year-old Sarah Pearse of Whitehall was exiting from Route 22 onto Route 33 South in Bethlehem Township when she lost control and struck the guardrail of the Route 33 on-ramp.

Pearse was taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries. Police said she will be cited for the crash.
