Community mourns young man killed in Allentown

Mother "can't imagine son's last minutes"

VIDEO: Allentown man killed at...

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Parris Lane's mom tells us her son used to visit people at Hamilton Tower and do things he shouldn't have been doing.

She says the dangers of the streets took her son and she doesn't want it to take anyone else.

It's easy to tell Shalon Buskirk loved her son Parris Lane dearly and unconditionally.

"I can't hold, him, can't touch him, tell him I love him and I'm sorry," Buskirk said.

Wednesday night someone ripped him away from her forever, when the 19 year old was shot and killed in the Hamilton Tower parking lot. Police found his body in a car during a welfare check.

"I can't even imagine our son's last minutes that he had. Was he calling out for us? Calling out to someone just to help him, and no one helped him," Buskirk said.

Police haven't made any arrests or divulged a possible motive.

"I taught him to be a leader, but he was more of a follower...he was a people pleaser," she said.

Buskirk wasn't blind to her son's struggles: the temptations and troubles of the streets. But he was working toward his GED and got a job with the Allentown Youth Project.

"He was trying...he was trying...he was trying...," his mom said. "He spoke his mind and he lost his life, these people were supposed to be his friends, they were in our home....friends don't kill friends."

But if any of those friends or anyone at all knows what happened, she hopes they don't trust the streets to settle it. She wants them to go to the police.

The family set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds for Lane's final expenses.
