EMMAUS, Pa. - After a contentious school board meeting Monday night, a controversial board member abruptly announced his resignation Tuesday afternoon.
Twenty-five-year-old Julian Stolz first announced his resignation to WFMZ's Jaccii Farris.
He then posted his resignation letter on his blog.
Stolz said he will hand in the letter at the next school board meeting on Oct. 28.
Stolz was confronted by several parents demanding his resignation at Monday night's East Penn School Board meeting. At that meeting, Stolz repeatedly said he was not going to resign.
During the meeting, Stolz admitted that five years ago -- when he was 20 and serving on the school board -- he dated a 15-year-old Emmaus High School student. He said he considered resigning then, because he felt it was inapprorpiate for him to remain on the board while dating her, but decided to break up with the girl instead. He said he had a romantic relationship, but not a sexual relationship, with the girl.
On Monday night Stolz insisted he did not intend to resign because "I'm not doing anything wrong." Stolz only said he was not planning to run for re-election when his term is up in 2015.
Less than 24 hours later, he had a change of heart.
Stolz admitted he made huge personal mistakes, but is only resigning because an anonymous blogger went too far.
He complained he has been under attack by that blog for months.
Stolz admits he's given the blogger plenty of ammunition.
That blog contains dozens of screen captures of Stolz' Twitter account where the six-year school board member made comments that could be interpreted as racist, sexist, bigoted and in extremely poor taste.
