Country Meadows can open in Forks, supervisors say

FORKS TWP., Pa. - After two decades in Allentown and Bethlehem, Country Meadows is opening its first retirement community in the Easton area.

Forks Township supervisors on Thursday night gave preliminary/final approval to Country Meadow's plan to open an 84-unit building on Newlins Road.

The plan is a slimmed-down version of one presented to Forks last year, which had double the units.

Michael Leader, Country Meadows' president and CEO, said the property will include a mix of independent living and personal care housing.

He hopes to begin construction this fall, with plans to open in late 2015.

Country Meadows opened its Bethlehem property 25 years ago, and added Country Meadows Allentown community in 1994.
