Countryside is making a strong comeback

UPPER MILFORD TWP., Pa. - An old Lehigh Valley favorite is doing brisk business this holiday weekend.

Countryside Ice Cream in Upper Milford Township opened last Monday and its new owners say business has been booming.

The business had been closed for over six years after a fire gutted it back in 2011.

Business partner Nadine Schmoyer said Memorial Day Weekend has brought more business than she was expecting.

"We start promptly at 11 [on Saturday morning] and there was a line out the door last night until just about 10 p.m. when we closed," Schmoyer said.

The mountain top ice cream shop is steeped in history.

Visitors of the local business were quick to point out that each ice cream cone comes with a healthy scoop of nostalgia.
