Crews conduct water rescues, close roads after flooding in Lehigh Valley

WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The heavy rains have caused massive flooding in our area.

Lehigh County certainly saw its fair share of it.

The road flooded out at Lehigh Street and 6th earlier Saturday morning, causing multiple cars to be stuck in the water, according to video shot at the scene.

Emergency crews were called out to provide a water rescue for at least one driver.

Whitehall Township Fire Chief David Nelson said Lehigh Street, Hokendauqua Street and the intersection of Water Street and Eberhart Road are currently closed due to the flooding.

The area around Cedar Beach Park in Allentown is also experiencing flooding.

Two cars were stuck in water at Village Road and Route 309 in South Whitehall Township.

And over in Northampton County, emergency crews were called to assist a driver whose car was caught in the flood waters.

It happened around 4:15 a.m. Saturday at the 512 ramp off of Route 22 in Hanover Township.
