CRIZ update: Hotel Bethlehem is expanding

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - One of downtown Bethlehem's prominent destinations is going to get even bigger.

Hotel Bethlehem is expanding, as it's now accepted into the city's special tax zone called the CRIZ, or the City Redevelopment Improvement Zone.

The hotel will use the funds from the zone to include a new conference center and additional guest rooms, according to Bethlehem Mayor Bob Donchez. It will also add 360 parking spots to the parking garage.

Donchez says they're hoping to finalize the expansion by 2021 so that it's ready for the May 2022 100th anniversary of Hotel Bethlehem

The Social Still was Bethlehem's first CRIZ business to open back in 2014. The goal of CRIZ is to increase economic development and job creation in a city by offering tax benefits for developers.
