DA: Man used Ajax to clean woman's body after strangling her

Jesus Pablo Dominguez arrested Wednesday in death of Shirley DiLeo

Arrest made in Allentown homicide

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Police have identified the man they said killed a 60-year-old Allentown woman and hid her body in a bathtub for days.

The suspect, 33-year-old Jesus Pablo Dominguez, also known as "Playboy", stands accused of strangling Shirley DiLeo inside her apartment in the 500 block of West Chew Street over the Labor Day weekend.

"We're not certain exactly what went awry in the relationship but something obviously did," Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin told 69 News.

Martin said a man reported to police on Sunday that his car was missing. He said the man also told police there might be a dead body inside DiLeo's apartment. The person who made the report to police said he had been in the apartment on Sat., Aug. 30 and Sun., Aug. 31.

The person reported numerous people were using the apartment to smoke crack cocaine, but Dominguez, who was also at the apartment, was not allowing people to use the bathroom.

Following the report, police went to the home and found the front door unlocked.  Inside, they found DiLeo's body in the bathroom.

An autopsy determined she was strangled and the cause of death was ruled to be ligature strangulation.

Martin said Dominguez had been detained Tuesday on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle related to the missing car the man reported Sunday.

Wednesday, a criminal complaint was filed, charging him with criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse, according to Martin.

According to authorities, Dominguez said he and DiLeo had done crack cocaine together and had sex. They said he admitted killing DiLeo and said he placed her body in the bathtub.

"He took her body from the bedroom into the bathroom, attempted to cleanse it with Ajax cleanser because he was fearful that his DNA would be located on her body," said Martin.

Investigators said Dominguez also admitted to being in the apartment while others came over to the apartment but not allowing them access to the bathroom.

Martin would not comment on why Dominguez allegedly strangled DiLeo.

"Those facts will emerge as the case makes its way through the criminal justice system," he said.

Dominguez was arrested on theft charges in October 2011.
