DA: Freer may plead guilty in massive Ponzi scheme

EASTON, Pa. - A Northampton County man charged in a massive Ponzi scheme may avoid a trial.

District Attorney John Morganelli said prosecutors are discussing a possible guilty plea with Richard Freer and his attorney.

Officials said the Palmer Township man is a former bank manager who duped about 80 people out of $10 million.

He's scheduled to be back in court on May 5. His attorney declined to say whether Freer will plead guilty, but he did say he expects the case to be resolved at that time.
