Declaration of Independence read aloud at George Taylor House in Catasauqua

4th celebrated with reading of Declaration of Independence

CATASAUQUA, Pa. - The words that set our nation free centuries ago came alive Wednesday.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights."

Lehigh County Commissioner Dan McCarthy read the Declaration of Independence at the George Taylor House in Catasauqua, Lehigh Co.

Taylor, as you may know, was one of the original signers of the document way back in 1776.

Wednesday's reading was followed by an honor guard salute.
