Driver, passenger charged after box truck takes out utility poles

BATH, Pa. - Two people are facing theft charges after a hit-and-run crash in Northampton County Wednesday morning.

It happened on North Walnut Street near Barrall Street in Bath around 5:15 a.m.

Colonial Regional police said a box truck hit two poles, knocking one down, and kept driving. The truck was pulled over soon after.

The driver, Dennis Fletcher, 20, and passenger, Keyatta Smither, 20, both of Maryland, were charged with theft and receiving stolen property. Fletcher is also facing multiple traffic violations.

Police said Fletcher fell asleep before hitting the poles.
