Eastern PA Spring Home Show opens in Allentown Fairgrounds

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - If the cold and snow have you dreaming of warmer weather, the solution may be in Allentown this weekend. The Eastern PA Spring Home Show kicked off Friday night at the Agri-Plex at the Allentown Fairgrounds.

Three hours before the doors opened, there was a flurry of activity. Dozens of companies scrambling to get set up for the show. A chunk of the nearly 145 vendors were slowed down by Thursday's snow storm.

"We have quite a few venders coming from up in the Poconos and they might not get here until Saturday morning, but they will be here," explained Charmagne Harris with Jenks Productions.

Bethlehem based Tru-Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning normally would have their area ready to go this close to the doors opening.

"It set us back as far as set-up," Sales Manager Jeff Frantz described. "But we're moving along and should be ready to go for the opening."

This is the twelfth year for the show, and you can see a wide variety of home products and services. There's the latest and greatest in landscaping, tons of ideas for remodeling, even the high calorie to the high-tech. Businesses know the benefits of events like this one.

"The biggest thing is to meet new customers who just aren't happy with their water, whether it's city water or well water, they might have low water pressure," shared Jim Carroll with Long's Water Technology and Water Systems.

Plus, it's a chance to remember nature comes in more colors than white.

"Spring is about 30 days away and it's just around the corner, so get out, come on down and enjoy yourself," Harris smiled.

The Home Show runs through 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and kids 12 and under are free.
