Easton man allegedly scuffles with bouncer, punches cop

Police needed a stun gun to subdue the 24-year-old

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Authorities allege an Easton man got into a scuffle with security at an Allentown nightclub before taking a swing at the police officer who tried to arrest him.

Armando Trevino is facing aggravated and simple assault charges after Allentown police needed a stun gun to subdue the 24-year-old near the Déjà Vu night club in the 300 block of Hamilton Street early Sunday morning. District Judge Jacob Hammond arraigned Trevino late Sunday morning on two sets of charges, setting bail at a combined $60,000.

Allentown police responded to the 300 block of Hamilton Street about 1:20 a.m. Sunday for a report of a fight between security and patrons. Police arrived to find a security guard holding a paper towel to his lower lip that was swollen, bloodied and cut.

The security guard pointed to Trevino and identified him as the man who allegedly punched him during the fracas, according to court records.

When an officer tried to take Trevino into custody, he broke away and allegedly took a swing at police, according to records. Trevino missed, and three officers grabbed him and pushed him against a car.

Authorities said Trevino took another swing, this time punching an officer on the side of the head. Police wrestled Trevino to the ground, needing several officers and several stuns from a stun gun to subdue and cuff him.

Police charged Trevino, of the 900 block of Ferry Street in Allentown, with a felony count of aggravated assault along with two counts of simple assault and single counts of harassment and resisting arrest.

After failing to post bail, he was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 12.
