Man fatally injured by car

EASTON, Pa. - A man who struck and killed a pedestrian in Easton early Sunday morning appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

The accident happened around 2:10 a.m. on Lehigh Drive in the area of Adamson Street.

Francis Thomas Roscioli hit the pedestrian while attempting to pass a slower moving vehicle, police said.

Roscioli, 22, of Easton, continued driving in his Jeep Cherokee on Lehigh Drive before he lost control of the vehicle, striking an embankment and flipping over, police said.

The pedestrian, Abraham Rivera, 35, of West Easton, died at the scene.

Roscioli was treated for minor injuries at Easton Hospital, police said. He was transported to Northampton County Prison on an unrelated probation violation.

Police said vehicular homicide and DUI charges are pending the results of toxicology testing.

Roscioli has a criminal past, according to court records. In 2012, he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

This year, he was charged with driving under the influence with a high rate of alcohol in his body.
