Eckhart files paperwork in response to lawsuit

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Lehigh County controller is firing back against claims that he isn't eligible for office.

Last month, District Attorney Jim Martin filed a civil action asking Lehigh County Court to declare Glenn Eckhart ineligible for the job and to remove him from the position.

Martin claimed Eckhart went from being county commissioner to county controller without a two-year break between the positions, which he said is illegal.

Now, Eckhart is shooting back. He's filed court paperwork in response to the suit, saying there's no law that requires a two-year break.
