Emmaus awards bid for culvert replacement

Foot race set for April 8

EMMAUS, Pa. - Emmaus Council unanimously voted to award the bid for a North 10th St. culvert replacement project to Doli Construction Corporation at its Monday meeting. 

The company, which had submitted a bid of $279,032, worked on several drainage culvert projects in other municipalities. Some borough officials observed the contractor work on a Smithfield Township Storm Sewer Project in Monroe County and were satisfied with the work.

Borough Manager Shane Pepe said that the borough understood Doli Construction to be a reputable company.

The company submitted several pages of references from various municipalities.

Nine bids were submitted, with the highest being over $600,000.

Other business

Councilman Wesley Barrett said that the Lehigh Valley Road Runners 4-mile race will take place April 8 at Emmaus High School. The race starts and finishes at the high school and will run through the borough’s residential neighborhoods. 

A 1-mile Fun Run for children will begin at 9:15 a.m. and the 4-mile race will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Online registration is $30.00. 

The winner of the race will be awarded $100, with the second-place winner receiving $75 and the third-place winner receiving $50.

Also, Council approved the reappointment of Carl Cramer to the Emmaus Library Board. His term expires January 1, 2021.

Council also accepted letters of resignation from the Emmaus Arts Commission for Teri Sorg-McManamon and Olivia Trotman.
